The University of Massachusetts Lowell Kennedy College of Sciences combines an interdisciplinary approach with innovative teaching techniques and a nurturing environment to prepare you for a fulfilling career across industries and academia. Founded in 1895, the college offers over 40 graduate and undergraduate degrees. You can choose to pursue a Master’s degree in exciting fields such as bioinformatics, biotechnology, atmospheric sciences, marine sciences, applied mathematics, or optical sciences, among others.

Life at Kennedy College of Science
The University of Massachusetts–Lowell has over 250 student organisations and clubs that can help students discover new passions and fuel old ones, meet people from different backgrounds, and develop social and professional skills. They can use the Engage Portal to stay aware of all on-campus events. There is also counselling support, wellness centres, and services for students with disabilities, as well as sexual harassment prevention resources on the campus.
There are 11 residence halls that offer different kinds of accommodations, including apartments, suites, and living-learning communities where students can spend a lot of time with like-minded peers. Living on campus also means they will have easy access to the gym, academic and computer labs, and libraries. Gender-inclusive housing and housing for special health needs are available as well. As far as meals go, students can choose from a variety of plans offered at different price points to meet different needs.

Admissions criteria
An application to the university should ideally include the following types of information:
- Completed online application form
- Statement of purpose (outlining work history, academic background, goals, awards etc.)
- Two recommendation letters (three for doctoral programmes)
- Official transcripts from previous institutions in both English and native language
- GRE: Requirement and minimum score depend on the chosen programme
- GPA: 3.0 or above
- Proof of English proficiency: TOEFL (79)/IELTS (6.5)
- TOEFL exemption: If you are a citizen of Canada (except Quebec), United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Guyana, and English-speaking countries in West Indies and Africa/completed a minimum of 2 academic semesters of full-time university study in the USA
