Inaugurated in 1965, the UCI School of Biological Sciences has risen to prominence as a distinguished public research establishment. Notably, it hosts the globe's first-ever department exclusively devoted to the study of the brain, while its faculty holds an extensive record of pioneering contributions to the realm of biology.
The School strongly believes a healthy mind is essential for physical wellness. UCI BioSci pioneered the world's first academic department focused on brain and nervous system study. Moreover, the faculty research endeavours to investigate essential biological inquiries and delve into molecular-level mechanisms, crucial to the physical body.
The UC Irvine School of Biological Sciences is one of the largest departments at UC Irvine, with over 3,000 undergraduates and nearly 300 graduate students. Admissions criteria
If you meet the below criteria, you may be eligible for admission to the UCI School Of Biological Sciences. The school receives many applications, so it is essential to have a robust application. [Guidance for US Schools]
-Applicants eligible with an equivalent four-year US Bachelor's degree or its equivalent - Permanent residence of the united states -3.0 minimum cumulative GPA - Less than 25% of the pre-med or health requirements completed -An incremental science GPA Score of 3.0 is required -One year of English composition with a minimum GPA of 3.0 -One term of preparatory or introductory chemistry with a minimum “B” letter grade -A minimum of two letters of recommendation are required, and a maximum of three are required

- Proof of English proficiency: You must obtain the minimum score in the following exams to be eligible- TOEFL Internet-Based exam: 80, IELTS: 7.0
- Graduate admissions test results (GMAT - 510, GRE - 297, ACT - 39, SAT - 1020)
Job placements
From internships to full-time jobs, the School of Biological Science encourages and assists its students in various ways. Through alumni and HR networks, the college faculty facilitates job offers for every student (graduates and postdocs). Furthermore, they prepare the students for interviews.
-Research Internships: These internships are available for undergraduate students interested in conducting research with faculty members.
UCI ANTrepreneur Center: This is an excellent resource for student entrepreneurs who want to launch successful businesses. The programme offers workshops, mentorships, and many more resources required to start or grow their businesses.
RTG Fellowship Programme: This programme is an excellent opportunity for UCI Ph.D. Students to gain experience in technology transfer and intellectual property management. In this programme, fellows work on real-world projects and gain valuable experience.
California Community College Internship Programme: The CCCIP is an excellent opportunity for PhD students to gain valuable experience in community college teaching and administration. Interns will receive training, mentorship, and teaching opportunities to prepare them for community college careers. In addition, interns will receive a stipend of $7,500.
Make a Difference Opportunity: The MADO programme is a great opportunity for UCI students to gain valuable work experience in a local business. Interns will work on real-world projects and gain practical experience for their business careers.
On-campus Internships: UCI also provides its students with on-campus internships, which is a great way to gain valuable experience and develop transferable skills for their career goals.
Micro-Internship Work: This is a short-term paid, project-based programme that helps students explore different career paths. It also assists students to build their resume and make them more competitive for jobs upon completion of their degrees.
