Admissions criteria

These requirements are general guidelines to help you determine, before applying, whether your academic background is sufficient for serious consideration for admission.

Official transcripts, test scores, and recommendations are listed by the program prior to being considered for admission and funding.

GRE scores above the 50th percentile, a GPA above 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and strong recommendations. The GRE is waived for all South Dakota Mines students and graduates.

Non-thesis campus and distance students (who are typically not considered for assistantship funding) are not required to submit GRE scores and recommendations. Non-thesis applicants may submit unofficial transcripts and English proficiency documentation for initial consideration.

Official U.S. transcript or international transcript evaluation and official English proficiency scores (if applicable) prior to enrolment.

GPA and other requirements may not be strict thresholds, depending on the programme.

Other factors, such as work or research experience, may be considered when evaluating applicants.

International students must additionally submit the international transcript evaluation and official English proficiency scores.
