How can I obtain an application fee waiver?

Applicants can also earn an application fee waiver ($65 value) by attending a Virtual Information Session (offered monthly). Students may register at the Graduate Connections page.

How long does it take to receive an admissions decision?

Submitted applications are held until all supporting documents, including letters of recommendation, test scores (if applicable), and credential evaluations (for non-US transcripts), are received and verified. Please see the program’s admissions webpage for the complete list of required documents.

Once an application is submitted, the application fee is paid, and all supporting documents are received, it will be forwarded to the admissions committee where it will undergo a holistic review. Applicants typically receive an admissions decision within two to four weeks, however the process can take longer.

What is the GPA or GRE/GMAT requirement for my graduate program?

The Bryan School recognizes that there is more to their applicants than their GPA and test scores, therefore the graduate programs do not have a minimum GPA or test score requirement. The graduate program admissions committees take a holistic approach to application review. This means that lower scores in some areas of the application can be overcome by higher marks in other areas of the application.

On average admitted students have at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicants with a lower GPA and less than 5 years of work experience may benefit from providing a GRE or GMAT score or first completing a graduate certificate to demonstrate their academic capability. Successfully completed graduate certificate coursework may count towards a master’s degree program.

What type of transcripts are required for the graduate program application?

Graduates of non-US academic institutions must provide a course-by-course transcript evaluation from any of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES®) approved agencies listed within the International Applicant Guide. The purpose of the evaluation is to authenticate the student's academic credentials and ensure that course credit and U.S. grade equivalency are completed accurately. This also eliminates the need to send official, translated transcripts from the school(s) to UNCG.

Do I need a business degree to apply to a Bryan School master’s or certificate program?

The Bryan School welcomes applicants from a variety of majors and backgrounds with at least a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) from a regionally accredited institution. While a background in business can be helpful, it is not required in order to be successful in the program.

How much time should I plan to study each week?

For on campus courses, faculty suggest setting aside one hour of study time for each hour that a student spends in the classroom each week. For example, for a class that meets once per week for 3 hours students should plan to spend an additional 3 hours outside of the classroom. Students enrolled in online coursework should be prepared to spend two hours per week for every credit hour of enrolled coursework. For example, if a student is enrolled in two courses (6 credit hours), they should plan to spend 12 hours per week engaged in the course.

For the MBA program, what is the difference between the Early Career Professional and Experienced Professional track?

The UNCG MBA program curriculum consists of 45 credit hours. To further customize the program, the Bryan School offers two experience-based tracks: the Early Career Professional Program or the Experienced Professional Program for students with more than five years of professional work experience. Students in the Experienced Professional track have the option to waive the Basecamp and 3-credit hour internship course requirements.

How do I apply for a graduate assistantship?

Graduate assistantships are limited and highly competitive. Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their completed application as early as possible. Applicants may indicate their interest in a Bryan School graduate assistantship from within the online application. Other graduate assistantship opportunities may also be available through Spartan Talent.

What type of transcript evaluation is required for non-U.S. academic transcripts?

Application documents and transcripts are processed by the UNC Greensboro Graduate School Admissions office. Are there any scholarship opportunities for the international students?

Graduate assistantships are available for full time, on campus students. Graduate assistantships provide the opportunity to work up to 18 hours per week while earning a modest stipend. Some graduate assistantships also include a tuition discount or waiver.
