Admissions criteria

To be eligible for admission to the graduate programs at Johns Hopkins University's Whiting School of Engineering, applicants are required to meet specific criteria as outlined below:

Bachelor's Degree: Applicants must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the field for which they are applying GRE Test Scores: Official GRE scores must be sent directly from the Education Testing Service (ETS) to Johns Hopkins University School of Engineering (Institution Code: 4655). Scores are valid for five years from the test date and must be received at least three weeks before the score expiration date

Transcripts: Applicants must adhere to the following institute's requirements regarding transcripts:

Unofficial transcripts must be provided for application review Official transcripts are not required for application review. Admitted students must submit official transcripts with degree conferral by the end of their first term enrolled

Literal, certified translations are required for all documents issued in a language other than English. The Office of Engineering Graduate Admissions provides translation options and guidelines

English Language Proficiency: International applicants from countries where English is not the primary language of citizenship must submit English Language Proficiency test scores. The college also provides exemptions for these tests. Please check the college website for the same

English Proficiency Test Scores: The standard tests and their scores that the college accepts are:

Minimum Score needed in paper-based TOEFL (pBT): 600

Minimum Score needed in the Computer-based TOEFL (cBT): 250

Minimum Score needed in the Internet-based TOEFL (iBT): 100

Minimum Overall Band Score needed in Cambridge English Assessment: 185

Minimum Overall Band Score needed on the IELTS: 7
