Admissions criteria

The following documents are required to process the application: - A bachelor's degree with high academic standing from a recognised university - Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 (mid-B; 73–76%) in the final year of undergraduate study. View U of T's Grade Scale for reference. - Applicants are expected to demonstrate evidence of research ability. Applicants from universities outside of Canada where English is not the primary language of instruction must provide English Language Proficiency (ELP) exam results unless: 1) The applicant’s admitting degree IS listed under Exemptions on the School of Graduate Studies website; or 2) the applicant can provide official documentation from their admitting institution that instruction was in English. - To be considered for admission, all applicants who require proof of ELP must meet the minimum score requirement for every component of the English language proficiency exam, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening. - All test components must be completed and passed at the same time (applicants cannot combine scores from different exams). - International students should use the International Degree Equivalencies Tool to see which international credentials are required.

Job placements

Placement rates for the faculty's postgraduate programmes typically range from 80% to 90%, and a significant portion of graduates find jobs soon after completing their studies. Graduates gain a lot from the faculty's industry relationships, which help to ensure their success in finding employment. Approximately 40% to 50% of job placements result from these collaborations, many of which result in prospects for direct employment. Graduates of the faculty's postgraduate programmes have found jobs in engineering (30%), technology (20%), research (15%), consulting (10%), and other sectors (25%), opening access to a variety of career options. Around 70% of graduates hold leadership positions and get significant recognition in their respective sectors, which speaks to the quality of education and training. Graduates can make use of the vast alumni network and contacts in the sector to improve their career chances, with 60% of them benefiting from networking and recommendations for jobs.
