University of Washington School of Dentistry offers students a unique blend of academic excellence and a vibrant campus experience. To safeguard the well-being of students and to build a safe and supportive environment, the university has 12 organisational health and safety committees.

The University of Washington offers on-campus housing facilities in its five full-year apartments and five family apartments. The furnished and unfurnished full-year apartments are allotted to students who are single, married and those with families. Family apartments are exclusively for married students and students with children.

The UW Dining serves various types of meals. Students living on campus can easily manage their food bills by selecting a residence hall or apartment dining plan. With these meal plans, they can eat at any of the dining locations inside the Campus. The eateries include Local Point, Pagliacci Pizza West, District Market Alder, and more.

The campus offers a variety of amenities to improve the quality of life of its inhabitants. UW Recreation offers several activities and facilities, like Crags Climbing Center, a gear garage, a golf range, a massage clinic, Rec Clubs, UWild Adventures, etc.

In terms of transportation, the U-PASS programme offers flexible and cost-effective transportation options. Students can ride for free on regional buses, commuter trains, light rail, and even water taxis. The University of Washington also takes pride in its commitment to eco-friendly transportation on the Campus.

The School of Dentistry is an excellent centre for research. The Regional Clinical Dental Research Center (RCDRC) provides facilities and support for conducting high-quality clinical and translational research in partnership with NIH-funded researchers and industries. The School has implemented several training programmes to provide hands-on training in oral health and clinical research methods. These include comprehensive training in inter-disciplinary oral health research, a summer research fellowship, and the programme by the Summer Institute in Clinical Dental Research Methods.

The University of Washington School of Dentistry also offers the Regional Initiatives in Dental Education (RIDE) programme. It is meant to prepare dentists to address the special needs of rural residents in the state and area. Through the RIDE programme, students can gain unique insights, skills, and experiences that will prepare them to make a significant contribution to oral healthcare in underserved areas.

Admissions criteria

While applying to the graduate programmes at the University of Washington School of Dentistry, international applicants must submit a few documents. Generally, the application procedure requires the following:

  • A personal statement and dental experience is needed
  • A copy of the dental degree, if necessary, translated into English
  • Official course-by-course dental school transcript evaluation from either ECE or WES
  • Successful completion of the National Board Dental Examinations part I and II or the Integrated National Board Dental Examination within the last 5 years.
