About the school
The School Of Public Health at the University of Memphis is dedicated to improving public health, which is deteriorating yearly. The School is committed to producing leaders who would work diligently and address the newest challenges that arise as the world population increases and global health decreases. As a School of Public Health student, one can pursue one of the three master’s degree programmes, which include a Master of Public Health, a Master of Science in Biostatistics, and a Master of Health Administration. According to the renowned U.S. News & World Report, the MHA program is ranked in the top 50 among similar Schools nationwide.
Location of the School
Memphis is a beautiful city located in the State of Tennessee along the Mississippi River. Being one of the most important cities in the State, the students in the School of Public Health get excellent access to leading hospitals and research centres to conduct hands-on experience.
Life at the School of Public Health
The School of Public Health provides immense opportunities for students to increase their capacity to learn, engage and serve the country and the world. The academic degree programmes, especially the master's programme, strongly relate to the Shelby County Public Health Department. This relationship helps emphasise the students' cultural competence and trains them to become qualified healthcare interpreters.
But that's not all, because being a student of the School of Public Health is not just about studies and services. The university has a separate section dedicated to all the activities one can participate in while in Memphis. The students can find a section called "Living in Memphis" on the School's website that shares all the details about the upcoming concerts, events and activities in the city.
Additional Benefits of Studying at School of Public Health
The School of Public Health has student associations that help build communication and a sense of community among them. These committees are encouraged to organise events and promote public health, ultimately leading to academic and professional growth.
The Public Health Student Association, commonly known as the PHSA, is a body that aims to create an enduring and robust foundation for future public health leaders graduating from the School. The association's mission is to promote awareness among students and serve as a common voice for the students to the administration. Apart from this, they also organise health-related volunteer activities, collaborate with various health agencies, encourage students to participate in personal and social development events, and host events to encourage a positive relationship between students and faculties.
