About the school
Established in 1974, the University of Kansas Medical Centre - The School of Health Professions aims to better Kansas, including the nation. The school seeks to provide students with premium and essential skill sets through its master’s, doctorate, and professional degree certificates.
The school comprises eight departments that impart education and cultivate research in over 25 fields of study, with five graduate programmes ranked in the top 15 nationally. U.S. News and World Report ranks the University #75 for research and #14 for primary care provision nationally.
The institution has produced several notable alumni who have excelled in their respective fields. They include Dr. Van Towle (executive board member, Kansas Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association), Scott Mattivi (COO, PathologyWatch), and Darshan Deole (Doctor of Physical Therapy).

The School of Health Professions gives its students the best growth, development, and entertainment opportunities.
Student organisations are a principal part of life at the School of Health Professions. With more than 150 student organisations and the institution always ready to accept and support new ones, new students have high engagement and social opportunities. Everything, from the mainstay defacto school newspaper, “The Beat”, to Artificial Intelligence Interest Groups, is available for you to choose and perhaps create your own.
The institution promotes health and wellness through proper nutrition intake. The Thrive Food Pantry is a community-run initiative every Thursday from 1-5 pm. Students can also visit by appointment and are always welcome to contribute. The aim is to create a space where everyone can access nutritious food.
KU Dining is a facility available to on-campus residents. There are over 18 dining locations all over the campus; hence, you will always be close to a good meal. Students staying off campus can also avail the facilities through a dining plan of at least $440.
The KU Student Housing facilities are top-notch. Various types of options are available depending on your needs, from traditional one to two-person rooms with a shared bathroom, semi-private rooms with in-unit bathrooms, four-person suites with a living room and an in-unit bathroom, or apartments with one to two-person bedrooms and amenities. The rates range between $2,000 and $5,000. The rates cover the internet, laundry, electricity, and other miscellaneous services costs. Scholarships and financial aid apply to the housing charges as well.
The campus is well connected through various public transport solutions. The university maintains multiple types of parking facilities. Several carpool options are also available. They can be found on RideKC.org and RideShareKC.org.
Students are encouraged to participate in various sporting activities such as football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, and many more.

Admissions criteria
General requirements for admission to the University of Kansas Medical Centre - School of Health Professions include:
- Resume/CV
- A graduate degree fulfilling specific programme requirements
- A Statement of Purpose
- A minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
- International students must get transcripts evaluated by either World Education Services or Educational Credential Evaluators
- A basic knowledge of operating computers
- The Joint Commission requires all incoming students to provide KU Medical Center with a background check report. - Minimum TOEFL scores : 23 on the Reading and Listening portions of the TOEFL IBT and at least a 19 on the Writing section
