Admissions criteria
U.S. law students applying to the University of Iowa - College of Law should meet the following requirements:
- Statement of purpose as part of the online application.
- Three letters of recommendation, with at least two coming from law professors who can assess your critical thinking, writing skills, and potential for success in law school. These letters should also provide insight into your class rank, if possible.
- Official copies of academic records from all colleges, universities, technical institutes, and professional institutions you have attended, regardless of the duration of study or whether you obtained a degree.
International law students applying to the University of Iowa - College of Law should adhere to the following additional application requirements:
- TOEFL or IELTS scores. However, applicants who have finished a bachelor's degree in the United States or an equivalent qualification from an accredited English-language university in Australia, Canada (excluding Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand, or the United Kingdom are exempt from this requirement.
-Proof of sufficient financial support to cover one full year of study at the University of Iowa. Completing the financial statement with your application can expedite the visa process.
