About the school
Listed among the top 15 research universities in the world, the University of California, San Diego, was established in 1960. The University is one of the 10 campuses that make up the University of California system.
The Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science is a public health school at the University of California, San Diego. It was established in 2019 after a generous donation of USD 25 million from the Dr. Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Family Foundation. The School's core mission revolves around fostering healthier populations at local, national, and global levels.
In the fall of 2020, the School embarked on its inaugural academic year, boasting an impressive roster of over 80 full-time faculty members, 25 of whom had secondary appointments from other university departments, a staff of over 200, and a graduate student body of 175.
Notable alumni from the University of California, San Diego, include Erik T. Engelson (president/CEO at Diassess Inc.) and Patrick Ledden (founder and CEO of Nova Medical), among others.

Life at the Institute for Public Health
The University boasts approximately 500 student organisations, providing students with numerous opportunities to foster leadership skills and personal growth. These Co-curricular initiatives, which focus on self-awareness, leadership development, constructive dialogue, and redefining diversity norms, contribute to improved academic performance.
On-campus housing is available to students in apartments at Coast Mesa, One Miramar St., Mesa Nueva, Nuevo East, and Nuevo West. Most of these include high-speed internet, parking facilities, and other resources to help students lead a comfortable life. There are numerous dining options across the campus that include fast food joints, coffee shops, and snack bars, among others. The Recreation Center provides several cardio and strength-training equipment, as well as group fitness classes, swimming pools, and basketball courts. The Wellness Center offers various programmes and services to promote healthy living, including stress management, nutrition counselling, and yoga classes for students.
Triton Transit offers complimentary transportation services for students, encompassing 4 main service categories: Shuttles, Mobility, DART (Dial-A-Ride Transit), and charter services. The Triton U-Pass initiative offers students unlimited access to all regional MTS and NCTD mass transit bus and trolley/light rail routes. The University encourages environment-friendly measures like walking, bicycling, and carpooling. It also partners with Spin to provide a shared electric bicycle and scooter pilot programme on campus.

Admissions criteria
Generally, applicants require the following to meet the admission criteria:
- A statement of purpose
- Transcripts: a GPA of at least 3.0 (official transcripts will be requested if accepted into the programme)
- 3 letters of recommendation
- GRE test results
- Test: TOEFL (for candidates from non-English-speaking nations)
