About the school
The Tufts School of Engineering was founded in 1898 and houses six academic departments, three centres and the Tufts Gordon Institute. The graduate department offers master of science and Ph.D. degrees from each academic department. The school also has provisions for interdisciplinary degrees, which include Masters and joint PhD degrees in two streams – Materials Science and Engineering or a Master of Science in Bioengineering. The school has a two-fold mission. It aspires to educate students to learn the ethical application of science and technology. The second part of their mission is to employ the research happening at the campus to advance scientific and engineering knowledge. It aims to discover, develop and help create new technologies that can enhance the well-being and sustainability of society.
