About the school
The College of Liberal Arts, which was later called the "College of Arts and Sciences," was founded many years ago in 1870. The College launched the country's first bachelor of fine arts programme in 1874, after which the institution's popularity grew immensely.

Life at College of Arts and Sciences
Life at the College of Arts and Sciences is much more than just the four walls of the classroom. As a student of the College, one gets introduced to a bold and spirited community where there is something for everyone.
There are 21 residential halls and 1100 apartments available for the students. 55% of the students live in one of these on-campus housings. Since there are so many options for the students, the housing selection lottery takes place every March before the spaces are allocated. Different types of accommodation options are available for the students. One can choose between single, double, triple, quadruple and even six-person accommodations.
Along with the rooms, the students can also choose their meal plans per their preference. The list of meal plans is available on the College's official website. The institute always ensures no matter in which part of the campus the student is tasty, easy and healthy food options are always a minute away. Five residential dining centres are operating from breakfast to dinner. There are more than 22 places to eat on campus, so as a student, worrying about good food is not an option at the College of Arts and Sciences.

The Schine Centre is for the students residing and studying at the North Campus, while the Goldstein is for the ones at the South Campus. Both spaces offer students services where they can relax, enjoy, study, and have a refreshing atmosphere.
The JMA Dome is one of the biggest highlights of the campus. It is home to the university's football, basketball and lacrosse teams. But this space hosts events beyond just sports. Some of the most memorable championships, concerts and programs have occurred at the JMA dome.

Admissions criteria
The College of Arts and Sciences is an R1 research university. So, getting admission to such a prestigious college is not easy. A lot of paperwork is involved before the student is considered for the programme. Every student applying for the graduate program must submit all the documents as stated below. An online application form along with the application fee Official transcripts from all the previously attended schools/colleges at the post-secondary level Letters of recommendation from a supervisor A personal statement within a standard word stating the purpose for pursuing the degree An updated resume, sharing all the past work experiences, internships, volunteering activities, and awards A portfolio Some writing samples (if requested) Official GRE scores (if requested) Military transcripts in case the student applying for the program is currently serving
For international applicants, the requirements stated above stay the same. Additionally, some extra documentation is needed. Official scores from one of the applicant's English Proficiency Tests (TOEFL or IELTS) One copy of transcripts from all the previously attended post-secondary institutes All transcripts should be translated into English and notarised by the registrar's office
