About the school

On March 19, 2014, the SUNY College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) and the SUNY Institute of Technology merged to form the SUNY Polytechnic Institute - College of Engineering. This consolidation made SUNY Poly emerge as a distinctive and dynamic institution in the State University System. The College of Engineering, located at the Utica campus of the institute, is a hub of technology innovation and development.

SUNY Polytechnic Institute ranks second among the top public schools in the US and ninth on the list of the best regional universities in the North. Admissions criteria

Any aspirant wishing to secure admission in a graduate-level course at the SUNY Polytechnic Institute College of Engineering must meet the following admission criteria:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field from a reputed university
  • Possess academic credentials that are the US equivalent of B or above (a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or 70% minimum academic score)
  • A letter of recommendation from an employer or academic
  • Undergraduate transcripts translated into English
  • GRE score required is 153 for quantitative and 140 for verbal sections
  • Proof of proficiency in English: TOEFL -79, IELTS-6.5, PTE- 53, DET-105
