What's it like to live at Missouri University of Science and Technology?

Rolla, Missouri may not offer big-city living, but there’s no shortage of diversions here. There are over 250 student organisations you can engage in, from sport-oriented activities to socialising and networking clubs. There’s also a large international festival, Missouri S&T’s Celebration of Nations, hosted annually since 2010.

You’ll find everything you need for a comfortable student live in or around campus, but if you want to head further afield, metered taxis are the easiest for short-distance trips. If you want to buy a secondhand car for your studies, the university provides step-by-step instructions on getting a US driver’s license (including the paperwork you’ll need).

There are 2-bedroom and 4-bedroom on-campus flats available through university housing to make it easy for international students to set up their accommodation as soon as they touch down. Dorm-style options are also available for students on a tight budget. But, they also recommend rental housing agencies and maintains lists of students looking for roommates.

You’ll find flexible meal plans available, several on-campus dining options and a 24-hour self-serve convenience store on campus to grab an emergency snack. Basically, you can be certain you’ll always have access to cost-effective room and board.

Graduate engineering programmes at Missouri S&T may be smaller in size, but each one sets high standards for admission creating a space for motivated, diverse classes. Last academic year, there were 824 master’s engineering applicants and 508 were accepted for an acceptance rate of 61.7%. More than half enrolled in Missouri S&T programmes.

At Missouri S&T, all graduate applications are reviewed holistically by each academic department. This means that GRE scores are heavily considered when making the admission decision, but other factors such as research and work experience are also taken into account.

All application materials must be submitted prior to your application being reviewed by the academic department, so be sure to upload all documents with your application.

For your 3 recommenders, you’ll be asked to provide their names and email addresses. Each recommender will receive an email with instructions on how to upload their letter of recommendation through the Missouri S&T website. It’s encouraged that you let your recommenders know this processes, so there is not a delay in your application being reviewed, waiting on letters of recommendation to be submitted.
