About the school

Miami University's Graduate School is a community of scholars dedicated to interdisciplinary research and collaborative inquiry. With a wide range of master's, doctoral, and certificate programmes spanning various disciplines, the school provides a platform for discovery, creativity, innovation, and collaboration.Also, the Graduate School works with other groups to set strategic priorities and policies for graduate education. This includes establishing minimum standards for admission, retention, and graduation, as well as standards for graduate faculty qualifications. The current students at Miami University have various opportunities to participate in research. Students can work with faculty on projects or start a research programme. Research opportunities are also available through the Graduate School, such as RedHawk Talks.

Location of the school

Oxford was founded as the home of Miami University. It takes about an hour to travel from Cincinnati and Dayton to Miami University, a typical college town in southwest Ohio.

Life at the Graduate School

The college provides only off-campus housing facilities to graduate students; on-campus housing accommodations are available only for undergraduate students. However, some graduate students can also apply to live in the undergraduate residence hall. Student organisations are an essential part of student life at Miami University, which has over 300 on-campus student organisations ranging from social and service organisations to athletic clubs.

In addition to the above, several other resources are available to support families and individuals, such as the Family Resource Centre, which provides a variety of programmes and services to support families in the Oxford community, including emergency financial assistance, community garden access, a thrift store, and job readiness coaching. The university also has a Child Development Centre, which offers high-quality childcare for infants, toddlers, and preschool children.

The Art Museum has five galleries of changing exhibitions, all free of charge. At the same time, graduate students can attend lectures by world-renowned speakers on various topics for free with their ID. The Outdoor Pursuit Centre offers adventure trips, team-building programmes, and many others.

Additional benefits of studying at The Graduate School

Besides regular academic excellence, the college provides additional benefits to current students. Graduate students can participate in the Graduate Student Teaching Excellence Programme by the Centre of Teaching Excellence and enhance their teaching skills by attending various seminars and workshops. After completing the programme, the students will earn $300 and a completion certificate.The college has a dedicated writing centre, the Howe Centre for Writing Excellence. It was founded in 1996 and helps current students develop as influential writers and excel in their persuasive writing experience.

The Howe Centre provides two programmes, namely, writing-focused and research-focused, for both students and faculty. The graduate school helps the current students with several financial aid, fellowships, graduate assistantships, scholarships, and external funding opportunities, to excel their studies and career.Apart from the above, the college offers extensive student health services and programmes to students. TriHealth is the care provider for the on and off-campus regions of the college and provides top-quality care to students. The college also offers mental health support with the help of student counselling services to maintain the healthy mental status of students.
