Admissions criteria
Here are the basic admission requirements: - You need a high school diploma If you follow the American Patterned System (SAT/ACT/AP), any one of the following is applicable: - ACT Plus Writing score of 27+ - SAT total score of 1,290+ - SAT Reasoning Test combined score of 1,800+ - 3 AP scores of 3+ or 3 SAT Subject Test scores of 600+ each For the British Patterned System, you can provide any one of the following: - Pass 3 Advanced Level (AL) subjects in GCEAL/International AL exams - Have a Cambridge Pre-U Diploma OR - Hold a BTEC National Level 3 Extended Diploma - You can replace AL subjects with Cambridge Pre-U Principal courses International Baccalaureate students need to submit the following: An IB Diploma English language requirement: - IELTS: Overall Band 6.0 - TOEFL: IBT total score 80; paper-delivered test combined score 60 - Note: You need to score 590 in SAT Evidence-Based reading and writing For more details, visit https://join.hkust.edu.hk/admissions Visit the school website for more information on fees and tuition.
Job placements
Regarding internships, you can choose between paid and unpaid positions. You may opt for part-time internships while classes are ongoing, go full-time during academic terms, or choose a full-time internship during the winter or summer breaks. Employers offer most internships as "direct-hire" options. You will find these internship opportunities on the HKUST Job Board. The HKUST Career Center manages the job board, accessible to all HKUST students regardless of their field of study. Career Mosaic is a biannual event held in October and March. It is a significant highlight on campus, lasting a week and creating opportunities for face-to-face interactions. More than 200 well-known companies and organisations come together at this event, offering various exciting possibilities for graduate jobs and internships in various industries. Whether you want to build your career on the mainland or abroad, you have countless options to explore. vMosaic, a virtual career fair that spans the entire university, is organised by the HKUST Career Center. Its primary purpose is to connect you, an HKUST student, with potential employers. This way, you can discover many graduate job opportunities and internships.
