About the school
With over 125 years of experience training lawyers, the school looks forward to understanding future demands and mentoring its students accordingly. The Case Western Reserve University School of Law is one of the most recognised law schools in the US. The school’s international law, health law, and intellectual property law programmes stand above all others in the nation. The School of Law combines leadership training and practical experiences throughout its novel syllabus. Students are allowed to work with real clients in their first year. Students can participate in a semester-long, full-time, or year-long half-time practice experience during their third year of the programme.
Where is the school located?
The Case Western Reserve University - School of Law is located in Cleveland, Ohio. The formal address is George Gund Hall, 11075 East Blvd., Cleveland, OH 44106.
Life at School of Law
The school's location allows students to visit cultural attractions and performing arts venues. Cleveland is renowned as the 15th best place to live in the US, with affordable housing, cultural presentations, safety, and green areas. Commuting to downtown and campus is easy due to Cleveland's RTA public transportation system. The system offers a combination of bus routes and rapid transit lines, making it easy to move around the city. The train ride takes students to Little Italy (thriving Italian-American population since the 1920's) in 30 minutes, and the airport is just 45 minutes away if anyone opts to commute by this train. Students can join law student organisations to engage outside the classroom and gain practical experience. Students are free to pursue areas of interest. Students can collaborate with their peers, academics, and practitioners in several professional journals through the university's five law journals. These include The Law Review, Health Matrix, Journal of International Law, Journal of Law, Technology, and the Internet, and Canada-U.S. Law Journal. The school believes associating with any law journal helps the students make a scholarly impact. The school offers Moot Court and Mock Trial programmes that simulate real-life cases. It helps the students develop the required skills to excel in their law careers. Students can get practical hands-on experience through on-campus events, regional competitions, and by taking part in national and international contests. Students get to develop their research and brief-writing skills, which are essential for preparing and presenting oral arguments.
Additional benefits of studying at School of Law
The school invites interested and able students to help them become associates of the Law Review during the start of the second year. Students can hone their legal analytical and writing skills while exploring their legal issues and concerns in detail by writing a scholarly article on a topic of their choice. Moreover, the school encourages students to select and edit articles submitted by judges, scholars, and other authorities. Frederick K. Cox International Law Center conducts an annual symposium and lectures. The college selects students as associate editors through a write-on competition for The Journal of International Law, which publishes articles generated in this symposium and lectures. The Journal of International Law publishes two issues per year. Similarly, students can contribute to the other two law journals, the Journal of Law, Technology, and the Internet and the Canada-U.S. Law Journal, and make an intellectual impact. The LLM programme helps students practise language skills, interact with JUD students, and work with practising American attorneys. Summer internships, LLM social events, and integration into intellectual and professional life within Cleveland's legal and university communities contribute to an exciting and well-rounded experience.
