About the school

The Ivey School of Business was founded in 1922. The School operated from the basement of Western University as a part of its Faculty of Arts programme. Today, Ivy Business School has taken the global stage as one of the leading business schools. The Institution is situated in London, Ontario.

In 2023, the Financial Times ranked the Open Programs of the Ivey Business School at position 19 globally. The Ivey Alumni Network has over 30,000 graduates across the globe. Some of the eminent graduates of the School are Sukhinder Singh Cassidy (president of StubHub), Neil Hetherington (CEO of Daily Bread Food Bank), and Joey Bergstein (CEO of Seventh Generation).

Life at Ivey Business School

The Western University campus is home to students from more than 121 different countries. Free counselling from student leaders helps new students connect with the community. There are over 500 student leaders to mentor them through their initial months on the Campus.

For students looking for on-campus housing facilities, there are traditional residences and apartments available. From the traditional-style dorm in the historic Delaware Hall to the vibrant hybrid-style Ontario Hall, each of the 11 residences provides unique support and resources. The University Apartments offer 2-bedroom units in Beaver and Ausable Halls. The Platt's Lane Estates have a community of 170 townhouses and 204 3-story walk-up apartment buildings. Over 5,000 off-campus rentals are listed on the University website annually.

The Ontario, Saugeen, Sydenham, Delaware, Elgin, Essex, and Perth Halls have dining areas for residences. There are home delivery options and quite a few restaurants like Subway, Turmeric, and many other eateries for those who hoping for some variety. Students can subscribe to residence meal plans to buy a variety of dishes.

The Campus boasts of aikido, swimming, fencing, tennis, and more such sports clubs to give students the complete experience. There is also a 50-metre pool. The Western Student Recreation Centre (WSRC) offers numerous cardio machines, weight rooms, and a variety of group fitness classes. The University even has a website dedicated to mental health resources to ensure students get help whenever they need it.

The Western University campus is pedestrian and bicycle-friendly. Students are encouraged to use sustainable forms of transportation like rollerblading, cycling, taking the campus bus, driving an electric vehicle or carpooling.

Admissions criteria

Admission requirement varies for different courses. A general set of admission criteria laid down by the Western University Ivey School of Business for international graduate applicants is as follows:

  • Must have a completed university degree
  • Submit unofficial transcripts from all post-secondary degree institutions attended
  • GMAT or GRE score required
  • Resume mentioning at least two years of work experience
  • An English language proficiency test score is needed:
  • TOEFL: minimum iBT score of 100
  • IELTS general or academic: minimum score of 7
  • MELAB: minimum score of 85
  • PTE: minimum score of 70
    • CAEL: minimum overall score of 60 required with no part having less than 60
  • Duolingo: minimum score of 125
  • 2 professional references
  • Applicants have to answer 2 essay questions and 2 video questions
