The University of North Carolina - Wilmington (UNCW) is one of the 17 institutions under the University of North Carolina. The University of North Carolina - Wilmington was founded in 1947 and has developed to become a distinguished institution recognised for its dedication towards research, community participation, and outstanding academic programmes.
The College of Arts and Sciences at UNCW is the university's largest academic institution. The College of Arts and Sciences comprises 16 departments and units. The College of Arts and Sciences provides arts, fine arts, creative writing, history, and film studies, among other courses. The College of Arts and Sciences integrates research, service, teaching and mentoring to turn students into world leaders.

Life at College of Arts and Science
The University of North Carolina - Wilmington is spread across an area of 650 acres, built with beautiful landscaping and Georgian-style architecture. The campus comprises 2 preserves: the Herbert Bluethenthal Memorial Wildflower (10 acres) and the Ev-Henwood Nature Preserve (174 acres). These preserves provide walking and biking trails that allow students to reconnect with nature and take a break from their everyday schedule. The campus has well-equipped resident halls with a dedicated residence for upperclassmen. Named Seahawk Landing, it comprises seven buildings that provide co-educational-style apartments.
These residence halls, 2,3 and 4 students, are single rooms with common living space, kitchen, bathrooms, and other amenities. The campus also has several dining halls and cafeterias where students can get various foods. Students can also get food as per their dietary requirements to ensure a smooth living on campus. The campus also ensures the physical well-being of the students. Thus, the campus has the Pat Leonard Student Recreation Center, Fitness Centre, MAC Gym, and Harris Teeter Functional Training Area. All these facilities ensure a comfortable and smooth life for the students on the campus.

Besides the world-class infrastructure, the University of North Carolina-Wilmington has more than 300 student organisations that allow the students to choose the one based on their area of interest and the course they are pursuing. The Campus Activities & Programmes (CAP) organises and provides various opportunities to cultivate connection and social engagement for the students. These clubs also allow students to socialise themselves while building their leadership skills.
Students applying at UNCW have the benefit of receiving merit-based and need-based scholarships. The authorities awarding these scholarships at UNCW include the Office of Admissions, the Honors College, and the UNCW Alumni Association. For need-based scholarships, students are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Admissions criteria
Admission to the University of North Carolina - Wilmington - College of Arts and Science is subject to meeting the following criteria:
Bachelor’s Degree: Students must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university or college or an international equivalent before the start of the term. The NACES will evaluate the degree from the international equivalent through a set approved credit structure
Grade Point Average Requirement: An overall average academic grade of ‘B’ or equivalent is required
Application Form: An online application form for admission is mandatory
Letters of Recommendation: 2 to 3 letters of recommendation are required as per the requirements of your choice of course
Campus Safety Questions: The applicants must attempt a series of campus safety questions along the application form
Test Scores: Applicants may have to submit standardised tests like GMAT and GRE for certain programmes. The scores can also vary depending on the programme the applicant is applying to
English Proficiency Test: International applicants must submit the English language test score to certify their English proficiency. It is crucial to meet the minimum required score to be eligible. The exam accepts, and the minimum scores are as follows:
Minimum Score needed in TOEFL Essential: 8 in internet-based exam
Minimum Score needed in internet-based TOEFL (iBT): 71
Minimum Score needed in Duolingo English Test: 95
Minimum Score needed in Person PTE: 54
Minimum Score needed in iTEP Academic: 3.7
Minimum Overall Band Score needed on the IELTS: 6.0
Certain applicants can be exempted from taking English proficiency. Thus, they must check the website for the same.
F-1 Visa Applications: International applicants who want UNCW to sponsor their F-1 Visa must provide a letter of financial support along with a letter from a bank, which will verify that the student has enough funds available to study at UNCW.

The University of North Carolina - Wilmington - College of Arts and Science (UNCW) has a dedicated career centre that provides comprehensive career counselling from the beginning of the course. The centre helps students to explore themselves and build necessary skills and provides them with the right trajectory for growth.
