About the school

Founded in 1941, University of Michigan School of Public Health combines research, education, and innovation to train students for complex local and global public health problems. Recognised as the number one public research university by National Science Foundation, the school offers graduate degrees across eight study areas, including Environmental Health Sciences, Biostatistics, Health Behaviour and Health Education, Epidemiology, Health Management and Policy, Health Informatics, Population and Health Sciences, and Nutritional Sciences.

At the graduate level, you can pursue Master of Science (MS), Master of Public Health (MPH), or Master of Health Services Administration (MHSA). Apart from in-person and online Master’s degrees, the school offers doctoral and dual degrees as well as certificates. With the help of 190 faculty members and researchers, the school trains over 1,300 undergraduate and graduate students every year.

Every year, the Michigan Public Health Careers Office conducts around 50 employer information sessions. 1,000 internship and 3,000 job opportunities are posted on the internal board. The school’s alumni members work in 83 countries and across all continents except Antarctica. Here is how different departments fared in terms of graduate placement in 2021. The median salary in all departments ranged from $55,000 to $60,000, except in Biostatistics ($95,000 to $100,000).
