About the school

Established in 1891, the University of Kansas School of Engineering is Kansas's oldest engineering school. It is a public engineering institution with ABET accreditation situated on the University of Kansas' primary campus in Lawrence, Kansas. The School of Engineering was placed 36th across public universities in the US in the 2013 edition of US News & World Report's America's Best Colleges, establishing it as the top engineering school in Kansas. Aerospace engineering came in at number 30 and computer engineering at number 40 in the nation among individual graduate programmes. Alan Mulally (president and CEO of Ford Motor Company), Brian McClendon (VP of Engineering at Google), and Charles E. Spahr (former CEO of Standard Oil of Ohio) are some of the prestigious alumni of the University of Kansas School of Engineering. The School of Engineering is situated in Lawrence, Kansas, on the university's primary campus. The University of Kansas School of Engineering is committed to providing students with a top-notch learning environment, to creating and applying knowledge via research, scholarly engagement, and development, and to serving society, the state of Kansas, and the engineering profession. Students at the university have access to a variety of on-campus housing choices, including conventional halls and rooms, semi-private rooms, suites, and apartments through the residence halls, scholarship halls, and Stouffer Place locations. The University of Kansas lists sizable Lawrence apartment buildings. Students interested in finding out more can visit apartments offering short-term leases. Students living on-campus or off-campus can take advantage of the university's many on-campus food options, which are spread out over the campus. There are 18 locations on campus, including dining halls, restaurants, and cafes, where students may get meal plans and wholesome food. Students can avail themselves of the meal plans via their cards, Grubhub, or Dining Dollars. Since 2008, Lawrence Transit, the town of Lawrence, and Kansas University have collaborated to plan the campus and municipal bus networks to provide the finest service feasible given their transportation resources. The campus is a "fare-free" zone; thus, all students can use their KU Cards to travel for free on any bus in Lawrence. Vehicle parking is also permitted on campus with a parking permit.

Job placements

The J. Bert Ladd Engineering Career Centre is the School of Engineering’s official career centre. It supports students by offering career counselling, discovery, employment data, and possibilities for networking. The college assists students in becoming future-ready and forming meaningful connections through: - Students can use the Occupational Outlook Handbook, the O*NET Interest Profiler, and Engineering Go For It (eGFI) to better understand their interests and career options - Through Jayhawks, students learn more about a "day in the life" of engineers, computer scientists, and other professionals in related fields. Through this programme, students shadow professionals to learn about careers in engineering and computing. - Jayhawk also acts as a link between engineering students and potential employers. Students can view the most recent research, internships, and employment opportunities on this programme. - Every year, the Engineering Career Centre holds 2 sizable career fairs exclusively for engineering and computing students.
