About the school
Connecticut University’s School of Engineering has a history dating back to 1901 when the Connecticut Agricultural College was established, introducing a two-year mechanical arts course. By 1916, the agricultural college expanded to a four-year mechanical engineering programme. The civil and electrical engineering programmes were added in subsequent years, marking the formal establishment of the School of Engineering, with separate departments for Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical engineering. The engineering school is well-known for its excellence in engineering education and innovation. U.S. News and World Report ranks the School’s graduate programmes No. 47 nationally. Notable engineering school alumni include John R. Rhode, Jr. (founder, Sound Consulting Associates LLC), Sudhakar V. Shenoy (CEO, Information Management Consultants, Inc.,) and Ronald D.
