Life at School of Information Studies

The day-to-day life at the School of Information Technology Studies is filled with exciting activities and events. The only thing that is not present on the campus is boredom. The College ensures the students of the institute form a close-knit community. To achieve that, multiple events and programs are conducted throughout the year.

There are more than 300 clubs to choose from, allowing everyone to have something to their taste and interests. There are multiple art galleries, large dining halls, large sports events or concerts at the Dome, and much more to keep the students entertained and interested.

The college offers different accommodation facilities to meet the demands of the students. More than 55% of the students live on campus, while the rest live in various university-approved off-campus spaces. Two campuses offer housing facilities - the North Campus and the South Campus. The students pursuing the graduate programs are evenly distributed between these two campuses so everyone can access the perks.

The students living in the South Campus can choose between one, two, and three-bedroom apartments. Apart from that, every apartment has all the utilities for hassle-free living. The apartments are fully furnished, have private bedrooms and have on-site parking facilities available.

The college has multiple communities to bring together students sharing a common passion. These are known as the "Living learning communities", where a student gets to live and learn with other students from the same or different departments sharing similar interests. Participation helps develop skills and attitudes that improve perception and academic and communication skills and help understand themselves and others better. There are more than 20 living-learning communities to choose from.

The location of the school offers a big basket of opportunities for students to explore the city. As a hub for entertainment, the city houses multiple art galleries, museums, performance spaces and everything in between. These spaces host some or other events all year round, out of which the Great New York State Fair is students' favourite. The other events of interest include– Winterfest, AmeriCU Syracuse Arts and Crafts Festival, NY State Blues Fest, Greek Fest, Taste of Syracuse, etc.

Admissions criteria

Applying to one of the pioneer colleges in Information Studies requires thorough research. When applying for the master's programme, one must remember to upload all the mandatory documents and update them to become eligible for the degree. They are: Online application form available on the official website A non-refundable application fee One copy of all previously attended institutes at the post-secondary level Official transcripts A personal statement of approximately 500 words Two letters of recommendation GRE scores (optional) An updated CV or resume
