Education was the founding department of Stanford University when it opened in 1891. The department was later elevated to the School of Education in 1917. The school's name was changed to Stanford Graduate School of Education in 2013 to reflect its sophisticated research and graduate-level preparation of educators, academics, policymakers, and entrepreneurs. Stanford University is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior College and University Commission. Glenn Singleton (founder and CEO of Courageous Conversation), Tina Lee (founder of MotherCoders) and Eduardo Briceno (co-founder of Mindset Works) are among the several illustrious alumni of the Graduate School of Education. Students from more than 70 nations and 50 US states coexist on the campus. The 8,000 acres of land that form Stanford's residential campus is home to a vibrant community. Residential and Dining Enterprises of the university manages eateries and student housing on the campus. The on-campus residential buildings include residence halls, apartments, suites, and row houses. The Community Housing Office helps students find off-campus housing in the neighbourhood. The Graduate School of Education at Stanford University has the following general application requirements for prospective international students applying to various graduate programmes. - Statement of Purpose (1 to 2 pages) - Resume/CV has to be uploaded - Provide 3 letters of recommendation - Submit transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
