Admission Requirements

Postgraduate

  • You should have the equivalent of a British Honours degree (2:2 minimum) in a relevant subject for most courses.

Language tests

  • If English is not your first language an IELTS score of 6.0 overall with 5.5 in each band (or equivalent), C6 English in WAEC/NECO equivalent for African countries also accepted as evidence of English

Scholarships

We are proud to present the Global Access Scholarship for 2025/26 entry, which rewards eligible prospective international students joining a full-time undergraduate and postgraduate taught degree at De Montfort University.

The Global Access scholarship offers a fee reduction for either the first year of study or for all years of study if entering the first year of a bachelor degree. This award is only applicable to international students who meet the criteria in the tables below.

Students commencing undergraduate taught study at DMU in September 2025 and January 2026 are automatically awarded a Global Access scholarship as listed below, if the deposit fee is paid before the deposit deadline.

Undergraduate scholarships

  • Level 4 (Year 1) £2,000 per year for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Year of study

  • Level 5 (Year 2) £2,000 for 1st year of study ONLY

  • Level 6 (Year 3) £2,000 for 1st year of study ONLY

Postgraduate taught scholarships

  • Courses in Art, Design and Humanities (ADH) - £2000

  • Courses in Business and Law (BAL)- £3000

  • Courses in Computing, Engineering and Media (CEM)- £3000

  • Courses in Health and Life Sciences (HLS)- £3000

A further £500 full fee payment discount is awarded to all students entering an undergraduate or postgraduate taught programme who pay full fees (full tuition fees minus any eligible scholarships) before the deposit deadline. This discount applies only to the first year of study and is awarded in addition to the Global Access Scholarship.
