How to apply for a Prodigy Finance loan before Spring 2027 deadlines

Three Women Laughing Together in a Grassy Park

A step-by-step walkthrough of the Prodigy Finance application, mapped against a Spring 2027 timeline, so you know exactly when to do what.

If Spring 2027 is your target intake, funding is one of the few parts of your plan you can actually get ahead of, rather than waiting on an admissions committee. Here is exactly how the Prodigy Finance process works, and how to map it against your own deadline, step by step.

Who is eligible

Prodigy Finance funds postgraduate study abroad without a co-signer and without collateral*. Instead of only assessing your existing credit history or your family's assets, we look at your admission, your programme, and your future earning potential. To be eligible, you generally need:

  • Admission (or a strong pending application) to one of our supported schools and programmes.

  • To be applying from a currently supported home country, for a currently supported study destination.

Eligibility by nationality, school, and destination can shift from one intake to the next as funding conditions change, so rather than relying on last year's list, the fastest way to get a definite answer for your own situation is to run our express eligibility check. It takes a few minutes, has no impact on your credit score, and you can do it before you even have a formal offer.

Which universities are supported

Because supported schools and courses can change intake to intake as funding availability shifts, the reliable way to check is directly on our schools we support page, where you can filter by country, field of study, and university. Confirm your specific programme is listed before you build your whole funding timeline around it.

The documents you will need

Have these ready before you start, so you are not scrambling mid-application:

  • A valid form of photo ID (passport).

  • Proof of admission or your university offer letter, once you have it.

  • Academic transcripts and, where required, standardised test scores.

  • Proof of your current address and, in some cases, income or employment documents, depending on your profile.

You do not need every document on day one. You can start your application, and even get a sense of your eligibility, before your admission offer arrives, and complete the rest once you have it.

The step-by-step process

  1. Check your eligibility. Run the express eligibility check to confirm your school, destination, and nationality currently qualify for funding.

  2. Apply online. Register an account and submit your application for your supported school. This is fully online, no branch visits, no physical paperwork.

  3. Receive your provisional offer. Once your application is submitted, you typically receive a personalised, non-binding provisional offer, valid for 14 days, so you know roughly where you stand before you commit to anything further.

  4. Upload your documents for verification. Accept your provisional offer and upload your supporting documents. Once verified, you are matched to available funding.

  5. Confirm your loan. Accept your final offer and pay the one-time USD 500 processing fee, the only upfront, out-of-pocket cost in the process, to finalise your loan.

  6. Sign your loan agreement once you arrive on campus. This is done digitally, and funds are then sent directly to your school, not to you personally.

Loan amounts go up to USD 220,000*, covering up to 100% of your cost of attendance, subject to your eligibility, funding, and credit assessment.

Mapping this against Spring 2027 deadlines

Spring intakes typically start in January, and university application deadlines for a Spring 2027 start generally fall between September and November 2026, though this varies by institution, so confirm your specific school's date directly. Working backwards from a January start:

  • 4 to 6 months before your intake: Check your eligibility and shortlist supported schools, even before you have an offer.

  • As soon as you have your offer: Submit your Prodigy Finance application and get your provisional offer.

  • Before your visa or study permit application: Complete document verification and get matched to funding, since most visa and study permit processes require proof of funds before approval.

  • Once you arrive on campus: Sign your loan agreement and have your funds sent directly to your school.

Starting early is less about urgency for its own sake and more about giving each step, especially document verification and visa processing, room to breathe instead of colliding with your intake date.
