About the school

Founded in 1934, the John Carroll University - Boler College of Business enjoys dual accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), a distinction held by only five percent of business schools worldwide.

The Boler College of Business adheres to principles that teach its students to serve others. The business school encourages students to become critical thinkers and use their technical skills and resourcefulness to become responsible leaders.

The business school’s list of notable alumni is seemingly unending, and a few of them include Rich Karmer (CEO, chairman, and president, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company), Elizabeth Evankovich (assurance senior, Ernst & Young), and Brandon Greene (category manager, Global Petrochemical and Acrylic Monomers).

Nestled in University Heights, a suburb of Cleveland City, Ohio, the University is only about 16 kilometres from the thriving atmosphere of downtown Cleveland. International students quickly find their place on campus and make lasting friendships, engaging with many organisations, teams, and activities at the university. Interacting with nearly 100 student organisations, students have the opportunity to create new partnerships that share their interests.

The campus has many on-campus housing options for international students, including furnished traditional double rooms, single rooms, and suite-style spaces. The campus has eight residence halls, several houses, and duplexes, with amenities such as kitchenettes, full kitchens, laundry service, wifi, study rooms, shared lounges with vending machines, etc.

The university offers a guide and other resources for off-campus housing options near campus. Students can find apartments and studios to suit their budget. The average accommodation rent may fall between $1,200 and $4,000 per the college's resources listing.

Meal plans in the dining halls on campus and nearby eateries ensure locally sourced and fair-trade products, brick oven pizzas, grab-and-go salads and sandwiches, Starbucks coffee, and much more. During finals week, several offices on campus even sponsor free hot dogs and other refreshments.

The Recreation Center Complex includes Schott Atrium, Student Activities Offices, an indoor track, and an intramural centre. Various group instruction classes such as Zumba, cycling, yoga, stretching, and muscle toning, are available to stay healthy and fit. RETREATS at the campus help you reflect, relax, and have fun.

The university also has parking spaces and a commuter lounge on campus to make transportation easy for students.

The small class environment, with an average class size of around 20 students, allows for a positive and productive dialogue between students and faculty. Experts teach students, as 97% of the 140-odd full-time faculty members hold doctoral or terminal degrees in their respective fields. The library's collaborative learning centre and learning commons offer free tutoring and peer-led study tables, assist with essay writing, skill workshops, and many other fun and interactive programmes.

Admissions criteria

For admission to a Boler College of Business graduate programme as an international student, you must have the equivalent of a US Bachelor’s degree. Applicants should complete the online application form and submit the required supporting materials.

These materials include:

• A personal statement/Statement of Purpose

• One letter of recommendation

• Undergraduate transcripts (translated into English)

• Graduate admissions test results (GMAT, GRE, LSAT):** May be required by specific programmes

• Proof of proficiency in English (e.g., TOEFL/IELTS) if the English is not the mother-tongue of the applicant

• Minimum test scores required:

Nearly 250 organisations actively recruit students each year for employment and internships through online recruiting database, on-campus interviews, and annual career fairs. The Boler Graduate Career Fair is a vital career fair hosted by the College.
