Admissions criteria

Admission to the College of Engineering is a dual process because it is a joint college between FAMU & FSU. The respective FAMU and FSU Admissions Offices determine students' admission eligibility. The academic department and the College of Engineering determine admissibility to a particular degree programme. However, the final decision on admission to the institution is subject to approval by the university's Office of Admissions.

Broadly, the admission requirements are similar in both FAMU and FSU. Students may need to visit the College of Engineering website and the FAMU and FSU websites to find detailed application and course prerequisite information about their programme choice.

You can follow these guidelines when applying to the College of Engineering:

  • Graduate application, electronically signed and submitted
  • Non-refundable application fee of approximately $30.00
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or a comparable degree from an international institution
  • Minimum Scores/GPA Official transcripts in a sealed envelope -GRE scores sent directly to the Office of Admissions from the testing agency
  • Curriculum Vitae, essay, portfolio, or other material (depending on the programme)
  • Letters of recommendation (the number may vary depending on the programme)
  • Immunisation form as per the website (applicable for FAMU applicants)

Please consult the school's admissions and financial aid websites for detailed and updated information.

Additionally, international students from non-English speaking countries must submit English language proficiency scores from approved testing agencies. The authorised agencies may differ for FAMU & FSU, and the minimum scores required from students can vary, depending on the programme.

You will need a completed Certification of Financial Responsibility form from your parents, government, or others indicating their commitment to support your education financially.
