Admissions criteria

The College of Engineering and Computing offers graduate programmes in biomedical engineering, civil engineering, data science, mechanical engineering, etc. While there are some general guidelines you can follow to submit your application, each of these programmes may also have additional admission criteria and prerequisites that you need to fulfil for eligibility to a specific programme. You can check out such information in detail by visiting the school's website and checking the admission requirements for the programme you want to enrol in.

The application deadlines differ based on the Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters and may vary for national and international students.

Generally, application requirements include the following: - A minimum 3.00 grade point average (GPA) in a completed undergraduate degree programme - GRE or GMAT scores. FIU may have waived this criterion for some graduate programmes, so you can verify this for your programme by visiting the website - Letter of intent - Letters of recommendation - Resume - Portfolio/audition/interview - Departmental application - University/college official transcripts in English from all institutions that students have previously attended - In the case of post-secondary educational history, students need to submit course-by-course credential translation and evaluation and GPA calculation for all non-U.S. coursework - Proof of residency, applicable for Florida residents, US residents, and international students

International students whose native language is not English will need to submit English language proficiency exams. However, the school exempts students from a few countries from this requirement, such as those from Australia, Canada, Mauritius, Bahamas, the United Kingdom, etc. You can find the complete list on the website. International students will also need to submit a few other documents, such as a student visa, Declaration and Certification of Finances, copy of passport, etc., to apply to FIU. Visit the school's website to learn more about this.
