About the school
The School of Natural Science and Mathematics, a division of the University of Texas at Dallas, offers over 30 courses, including many graduate courses, to produce some of the most talented doctors, scientists and mathematicians. At NSM, students can maximise their academic experience through access to over 40 cutting-edge research labs on campus.
The different departments of the School of Natural Science and Mathematics include Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Geosciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physics and Science/Mathematics Education. The actuarial science programme in the Mathematical Sciences department has garnered so much popularity that the department was recognised as a “Centre of Actuarial Excellence” - one of only 19 such centres in the US and 35 in the world.
The college encourages its students to expand their passion and entrepreneurial skills via various platforms. An example is the recent case where a biology senior, Madison Valdivia (co-founder at Olive Tree Therapeutics), recently invented the world’s first vibrating therapy vest for dogs with respiratory illnesses. She won an award for her startup thanks to the support and research she got from her teachers and friends at the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
The NSM is located in the beautiful city of Richardson, Texas. According to popular opinion, Richardson is one of the best places to live in the state of Texas as it offers a reasonable cost of living and a good quality of academic life. It is also well-connected to all the other important places in the state, with Dallas being only a 17-minute drive away.
