About the school

The University of California Los Angeles - School of Engineering and Applied Sciences is said to be the birthplace of the Internet. It was established as the College of Engineering in 1945 and later renamed as the School in 1969 after Professor Henry Samueli, who studied Electrical Engineering in the same college.

The school has seven departments and one interdepartmental programme. These programmes are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Some of the master's degree courses offered by UCLA School of Engineering are - Computer Science and Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

The university has four housing options: Plaza Residences, Classic Residences, Deluxe Residences, and Suites. All the residences and suites have either a shared or independent bedroom, depending on the residence the student is opting for. In addition, the student can also opt for living off-campus - they can live in one of the off-campus housing of UCLA. It also allows the students to bond and connect over similar ideas and concepts. Admissions criteria

All the students (native and international) are advised to apply to the School of Engineering on the university’s official website. The candidates are required to fill in the form and submit it along with the application fees. After submitting the application, they are requested to send or upload the following documents. The applicants are selected based on their academic and extracurricular activities and then are invited for an interview.

Generally, applications require the following types of documents: - A Completely filled personal information form - A personal statement written by the applicant - Three letters of recommendation from an employer, academic, etc. - The applicant’s undergraduate transcripts, which must be translated into English - Resume/CV - A minimum GPA of 3.0

Job placements
