About the school
The University of California San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering was established in 1964 and is one of the youngest engineering schools of the nation’s top ten and the ninth largest in the country. The School of Engineering offers MS, MAS, and MEng to graduate students with hands-on experience in the field.
The university is home to several graduate students specialising in six different fields. The Jacob School of Engineering is particularly highly ranked for its bioengineering programme. In addition, the school offers several research programs, including the Center for Wireless Communication, the Center for Energy Research, etc. The Von Liebig Center funds and commercializes all the early-stage technologies developed at Jacobs School of Engineering. Thus, the school helps students get their hands on real-life experiences.

Life at the Jacobs School of Engineering
University of California San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering has three housing options - Frankfurter Hall, Harlan Hall, and Stewart Hall. The students are well supervised by on-site staff, including Resident Advisors, Resident Deans, and others. Each room is furnished with a twin bed desk, chair, dresser, and chair. All the rooms are well carpeted and have blinds and an overhead light. Students also have access to the WiFi.
The School also serves meals thrice daily at the campus dining halls. Students can find vegetarian and vegan meals. However, the school dining halls mostly serve healthy diet food that suits all students' needs. In addition, the students also have the option to buy food on campus during any recreational outing and lunch if they wish to. The School of Engineering allows students to participate in recreational activities that take place during afternoons and evenings. Some of the activities they can participate in are practising musical instruments, group activities (talent shows, cosmolympics, etc.), watching movies, writing letters, reading books, and playing sports (volleyball, basketball, soccer, etc.). The school also takes the students on field trips to the San Diego Zoo, local beaches, etc. Thus, students have more to do than being involved in academics and research.

Admissions criteria
The Jacobs School of Engineering encourages all capable and like-minded native and international students to apply for master's courses. The UCSD Office of Graduate Studies and Research (OGSR) manages the application process. The application form is available on their official website. Each department at the school reviews the application thoroughly and then makes recommendations for admission to OSGR.
To begin the application process, the candidate needs to create an account and select the course. Thereafter the following is important to take note of: - Open and begin an online application - Attach relevant important documentation - Pay the application fees - Submit the application.

Job placements
The Career Center at Jacobs School of Engineering is the one-stop for all internship advising, resume development, graduate school preparation, etc. It arranges career fairs and helps the students meet potential employers. The AIP (Academic Internship programme) helps students by offering them the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge and experience in work and gain academic credits. The Center for Student Involvement helps graduates develop interpersonal skills, including public speaking, professional communication, and many others.
