With a legacy of more than 100 years, the School of Professional Studies has been developing innovative programmes to fulfil the needs and desires of students from diverse backgrounds and aspirations since 1995. Life at the School of Professional Studies
Students can look to the Division of Student Affairs, which supports students on several issues like Admission, Academic Advising and Support, careers, and Wellness. It also connects to various campus offices, such as the University Registrar, Student Financial Services, International Students and Scholars Office, Health Services, the Office of Disability Services, Counselling and Psychological Services, and Columbia Residential. The Division of Student Affairs works hard to satisfy students' queries related to academic and extracurricular activities with the school's policies, procedures, and requirements. It intends to engage students in student professional activities such as community engagement and networking to nurture their development. The Office of Advising at the School of Professional Studies guides students to plan their course load and complete the requirements. In addition, it also helps the students plan their next career step. The college conducts in-person and online events to collaborate and learn with other students. The Office of Student Wellness strives hard for the well-being of the students. It aims to develop a thriving student community on the college's campus. With students as the main focus point, the Office of Student Wellness provides support and non-clinical case management services.

The New Student Orientation programme helps students meet and network with other students, faculty, and staff who support them throughout their education at the institute. The School of Professional Studies conducts Virtual Workshops that enable students to understand campus resources and policies. In addition, the institute offers campus and off-campus housing facilities. Students can get resources from Student Financial Services (SFS) to help pay for their education at Columbia University. The SPS Student Government (SPSSG) is a student-led body and a link between the students and administration, advocating on behalf of the students whenever necessary. The college provides several medical services, such as confidential HIV testing, routine and urgent medical care, wellness visits, treatment of chronic diseases, travel medicine, vaccines, sexual and reproductive health services, and more. Student psychological and emotional health is supported by counselling and psychological services (CPS). Moreover, Disability Services (DS) promotes equal access for students with impairments. Students can access affordable healthcare services with support from The Insurance Office of the college. The Sexual Violence Response (SVR) offers trauma-informed, private support through crisis counselling, advocacy, prevention, and outreach, with a focus on critical issues like interpersonal harassment and abuse.

Admissions criteria
-A completed online application -Application fee payment -Essay mentioning a statement of purpose -Two letters of recommendation from academic or professional sources (A few courses may require 3 letters) -Latest resume with work experience or extra skills related to the programme of interest -One-minute video essay answering a random prompt -Proof of English language proficiency- TOEFL (100 scores) or IELTS (7.0 score) -Admissions interview, if required and applicable -Some programmes may require the GRE, GMAT, Law School Admission Test, or Medical College Admission Test scores - A student visa will be available to students outside the USA who are enrolled in a full-time schedule and registered for at least 12 points of credit-bearing courses per term - Students must send all transcripts to World Education Services, Inc. (WES), a third-party verification establishment, for a course-by-course examination for admission consideration if they attend a college or university outside the United States

The institute has launched a website, "Career Design Lab," to provide students with job listings, events, and other career development resource information. It helps students acquire value-added careers in the global workplace. The Career Outcomes Report for 2022 shows the career outcome percentage at a whopping 78.5%. The average annual base salary shown is around $93,000. The graduates have found employment in the top 10 U.S. cities and other prime global nations.
