About the school
Initially known as Western Reserve College, Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) was established in 1826 to impart scientific knowledge. The University founded the School of Management in 1952 and renamed it the Weatherhead School of Management in 1980 in honour of local businessperson and industrialist Albert J. Weatherhead.
The management school prides itself on many firsts. It is the first institution to offer graduate and PhD disciplines in organisational behaviour and operations research. Weatherhead is also a forerunner in competency-based MBA programmes in the U.S., focusing on leadership and emotional intelligence. It is also the first in the nation to offer doctoral programmes for practising executives. Further, it pioneered the introduction of leadership assessments in the MBA curriculum.
Some notable alumni of the management school include Majdi B. Abulaban (CEO and president, Superior Industries, a global aluminium wheel supplier), Katrina (Trina) M. Evans (executive VP and director, Corporate Centre for KeyCorp), and Arthur Anton (president and CEO, Swagelok Company).
Cleveland is rich in cultural diversity and offers international students an exciting learning environment. Graduate students gain valuable networking opportunities in the growing business community.
