About the school

Washington University’s Brown School is a leader in social work and public health programmes. The school, located in the heart of St. Louis, Missouri, was founded in 1925.

Having undergone several upgrades since its inception, the school functions from a sprawling campus today, driving equity through transformative education. Brown School’s “Driving Equity 2030” strategic plan aims to advance social, economic, health, environmental and racial justice.

The school has encouraged several graduates to make a positive social change in the world over the years. Some of its notable alumni are Kersha Deibel (president and CEO, Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Region), Mingguo Deng (president, Chongqing City Management College), and Steven Hayworth (director of Population Health, University of Utah Health).

St. Louis is an important city that lies along the Mississippi River. The city’s iconic 630-foot Gateway Arch commemorates the westward expansion of the immigrant American population and early 19th-century explorers. The Soulard district of St. Louis has several barbecue restaurants and clubs that play blues music. The city is also known for its fiercely loyal sports fans.
