Admissions criteria

École Polytechnique's Ingénieur Polytechnicien programme is a unique degree with 3 years of studying on campus to get a Master of Engineering, Science, and Technology. To obtain your master’s degree and the final Diploma of École Polytechnique, you must follow the admission procedure, as given below: There are various programmaes, and the admission procedure including the fee structure may vary. To gain admission to Ingénieur Polytechnicien programme, applicants must pass an entrance examination involving two different steps: admissibility and admission. Step 1 - You can complete four years of study in either of the following programmes: Humanities and Social Sciences Foreign languages Personal Development and Sports Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship Step 2 - Apply for any one of the 16 scientific specializations available in the 3rd year Step 3 – You must pass an entrance examination based on your nationality and undergraduate study. Accordingly, there are overall 4 entrance examination streams. - Classe Préparatoire stream (CPGE) - For students coming from classes - open to French and international applicants who take such classes. - University stream - French University Track (UNIV-FUF) - University stream - International University Track (UNIV-FUI) - University stream - International University Track - French Education (UNIV -FUI-FF) Step 4 - Admissibility Admission - CPGE Written exams vary according to the CPGE track - University stream - French University Track - Cover letter - Resume - Official grade transcripts for all higher education - Official diplomas from and including the last diploma received at high school onwards - 2 letters of recommendation For Year 4, students can choose to study for a 1- or 2-year master’s degree in France or abroad, in which case, if there are tuition fees, they are to be paid directly to the host institution. Students can opt for one of the following universities for the fourth year of the programme: - National University in Singapore - Cambridge University - Technische Universität München - KTH Royal Institute of Technology and many more Financial Aid: Each year, the École Polytechnique Foundation offers scholarships, partial tuition fee waivers, or subsidised loans. Students may also receive scholarships or grants from the French government or foreign governments.
