The launch of Prodigy Finance’s Women in Tech ‘Scholarship’

Prodigy Finance - March 01, 2018

Women in Tech Scholarship

Prodigy Finance is driven by the notion that quality education should be accessible to everyone, regardless of geography. One way we bring that mission to life is through our annual ‘Scholarship’ Programme.

Every year, we award 10 members of our community a US$10,000 scholarship in the form of a debt write-off. This scholarship goes towards their Prodigy Finance postgraduate loan, giving them more time to think about their futures.

Just listen to what Kaushiki Dutta, one of our 2017 recipients, had to say about what the scholarship meant to her:

My journey would not have started if Prodigy Finance didn’t help me with my finances. At a time when I was struggling hard to gather finances, this scholarship saved me from all my stress. Not only is it $10,000 less to repay, but it allows me to consider my plan of pursuing my PhD, as well.”

This year we’re taking it one step further.

Introducing the latest addition to our scholarship portfolio: the Women in Tech ‘Scholarship’. This scholarship aims to recognise the valuable contribution women are making to the STEM industry.

What is the Women in Tech ‘Scholarship’?

Female representation in the field of engineering has more than doubled in the last 20 years but in the US only 18 to 20% of the engineering workforce is made up of women. Prodigy Finance believes that women add immense value to the engineering world and we’re proud to afford more women the opportunity to make their mark.

The Women in Tech ‘Scholarship’ will honour a woman engineer with a US$10,000 scholarship in the form of a debt write-off towards her engineering postgraduate degree.

By highlighting the abilities of one of our female borrowers, we hope to encourage more women from around the world to pursue their dream of studying in the STEM field.

What other scholarships are we offering?

We’ll still be running our General ‘Scholarship’ Programme where 10 borrowers stand the chance to receive a scholarship, valued at US$10,000 each.

How do you enter? It’s simple - once you’ve applied for your Prodigy Finance loan and it’s been approved, we’ll send you access to the application page where you’ll have the opportunity to apply for one of our scholarships.

We’ll be selecting recipients over the following dates:

  • 5 recipients selected on 30 April 2018
  • 5 recipients selected on 30 October 2018
  • Women in Tech recipient selected on 30 October 2018

We believe our ‘Scholarship’ Programme is helping our community achieve even more. If you’d like to find out about what the scholarship meant to last year’s recipients, read their stories here.

Think our ‘Scholarship’ Programme sounds like the kind of community benefit you’d be interested in?
