What's it like to live at the University of Manchester?

The University of Manchester offers plenty of on-campus accommodation, with a range of options to suit a variety of preferences and budgets. All of the on-campus options include internet connections and utility costs.

Off-campus housing is also available, though the university does warn that these usually cost more than their offerings.

While bikes are the cheapest form of transport (and certainly useable given the climate), many students prefer to make use of the city’s bus, tram, and train systems. Taxis are also available when needed.

Given the size of Manchester, you can almost bet that any fitness or entertainment diversions not found on campus will certainly be available in the city - and London is just a few hours away.

How to get into Alliance Manchester Business School

Admissions to Alliance Manchester Business School isn’t all about the numbers (GPA, GMAT, TOEFL), but they do look for applicants that performed within the top 25% of their undergrad classes - and have at least three years of work experience to supplement that.

Undergrad majors accepted to the Alliance Manchester MBA programmes are extremely diverse, though they do expect candidates to have a strong awareness of international affairs and the economy, in addition to critical thinking skills.

Both entrepreneurial experience and international exposure are valued at the school - as the capacity to give back to the university communities.

When crafting your application, you’ll want to think about how you fit with this profile and what a relatively small MBA class in a big city can offer you. Also, keep your eye on these numbers which may help you dive a little deeper if you’re an atypical applicant.

  • Middle 80% range of GMAT scores: usually 550 - 700
  • Average years of work experience: 6
